I can use the tap tempo, control Master Speed and Master Level, etc. (mine was 10.0.1.3)ĭ) On the Ipad in the TouchOSC app, in the Connections section, I have the Enabled button ON, the Host is the pc IP address (mine is 10.0.1.2), Port (outgoing) is 8000, Port (incoming) is 9000.Į) In the TouchOSC Bridge section, I have the Enable button ON, Allow USB button OFF, Network Host blank.į) In the CoreMIDI section, I have the Enabled button on.Īt this point the Example Layout was populated with my Banks and Presets (I had to click on the Preset Manager button in DMXIS on the pc for the Banks and Presets to populate. Open DMXIS on the pc and TouchOSC on the iPad.Ĩ) Here are the settings I eventually figured out that I had to use:Ī) On DMXIS on the pc - open File/Preferences.Ĭ) Enter the Ipad IP address in the Transmit to IP Address field. connect the Ipad to the pc and sync in Itunes.ħ) Get the pc that you will be running DMXIS on at gigs, and the iPad with TouchOSC on the same network. This had me stumped for a while, but finally I found out that there seems to be a known bug loading to iPads. However, I got an error message of timing out. Put the file somewhere you will be able to find it in a few steps.Ĥ) Install the TouchOSC App on your ipad from the App Store.ĥ) At this point, you should be able to get the ipad and pc on the same network, click on the LAYOUT option and then ADD to get the new Example Layout you downloaded. I used the JRE for windows 圆4 that is circled in red.ģ) Download the TouchOSC Example Layout here. n-windows/Ģ) Install Java JDK or JRE from the above link. So not sure if it is needed on that pc as well). I accidentally put it on the DMXIS pc first, which wasn't the same pc. (You'll at least need it on the pc that you use to sync your ipad in Itunes, not necessarily the pc you run DMXIS on for your shows. Some may have been unnecessary, but in the end it worked.ġ) Downloaded TouchOSC Editor on my pc. I pieced together tips from several sources, applied a little trial and error, and finally had success! I will post the steps in case anyone else is having trouble connecting their Ipad to DMXIS via TouchOSC. Haven't checked them out yet, but looks like there are several other such roll-your-own generic wireless control pads in the App Store, like Custom Control Pad ($9) and Panels-Custom UI Builder ($4).I figured this out and got it working. Not sure I even miss apps that don't provide faders as I need the tactile feedback of real ones. The VNC WiFi connection (apparently the extra thing you need to download for wireless communication is "TightVPN") just resurrected a question I had about these virtual ports.Īfter my experimenting with rtpMIDI for Ribn app, SKI Remote for Steinberg's iC Pro, and TouchOSC Bridge for TouchOSC, and now VNC WiFi for Custom Keypad, I am wondering can all these multiple MIDI bridges run simultaneously on the PC without screwing anything up ? Or must you pick one and only one and thus only one iPad app at a time ?īTW I think the ability you pointed out with Custom Keypad to trigger Cubase macros makes it very powerful. IF it works for PC and Windows 7 ? Can you confirm ? Wow Steve, missed that one ! For the curious, its only $5 in the app store. But am mystified how to get an additional Layout installed and playing. I was so encouraged to see the iPad actions show up in Cubase. I'd be happy to provide any requested screen shots if that would help, and take this offline if you could help me. But it has a jpeg when it was unzipped and I don't see any such jpegs for the other Layouts that came with TouchOSC.Īnd I also think I read somewhere that the Layout file is supposed to be on the iPAD (I guess after being automatically transferred from the Editor to the iPad over WIFI like I've seen in the documentation.) I have unzipped the PAPiPad1 file on my iPad but don't know where to stick it. I noticed the PAPiPad1.xml wasn't in the folder on my PC where the rest of the Panels are (touch-editor-1.8.7-win64 file) so I copied it in there. But I never see it in the list of Layouts in TouchOSC. I Import it in Generic Remote, then hit Apply. I just don't know what to do with the additional Layout, PAPiPad1. So I know the MIDI bridge is working and the Generic Remotes in Cubase- at least for those Layouts. You should see you computer name appear in the Found Hosts list. In the TouchOSC application (on your phone/tablet), click Layout -> Add From Editor. the TouchOSC iPad Layout Panels that come with TouchOSC all work and change things in Cubase. Download Harrison’s TTC-1 tablet layout here: ttc-1 download On your desktop computer, launch the TouchOSC editor, and Open the layout file. It is called PAPiPad1.xmlĮverything is working, e.g. It is the one provided via download by Pendlebury in his article on getting it running with Cubase. Could somebody tell me what I am doing wrong with TouchOSC ? I am trying to import a demo simple Layout Panel.
